Parks Associates is pleased to highlight Peter Giacalone, a featured speaker at the 2025 Smart Spaces Conference, taking place September 16-17 in Dallas. The event will bring together multifamily leaders, technology innovators, and service providers to explore how connected solutions are transforming modern living spaces.

Peter Giacalone brings a successful forty-five year career in the electronic security and telecommunications industry. His experience includes building and leading the largest security, life safety, PERS, and video third-party monitoring center in the US, with a proven executive track record in increasing revenue and opening new market verticals. Over a ten-year period, his leadership grew the company from a forty-five-thousand-account regional center to more than five hundred thousand accounts with fifty million dollars in annual revenue. He also created the business plan, secured financing, and raised a one-hundred-million-dollar credit facility to fund the start of King Capital Financial Services, which became one of the longest-running Dealer Financial & Acquisition Programs in the security industry. For the past 20 years, Peter has provided Subject Matter Expert advisory for litigation, M&A, and operations across domestic and international markets.

Peter's take on the most promising technology trend in the industry -  “It’s more of the collaboration of technologies that is reshaping the space. With WiFi and the Internet serving as the hub of all services, this has paved the way for adoption of services that play well together. For example, occupancy detection along with energy management and various levels of AI afford managers, owners, and tenants comprehensive management and security. With energy and security management at the top of everyone’s list, these technologies as a comprehensive singular proposition allow for the best outcomes for every participant in the MDU ecosystem.”

Artificial intelligence and automation are also at the center of this transformation. Peter emphasized how AI is already improving efficiency and the resident experience across properties. “The adoption of AI both on-premise as part of platforms such as occupancy detection and management, along with conversational AI as part of the support and management of these platforms, continues to grow and bring significant additional value to these management systems and security systems.”

In addition to technology, Peter underscored the importance of partnerships. He noted that collaboration across providers and stakeholders often makes the difference in how effectively solutions are delivered and adopted in multifamily environments.

Peter’s insights align with one of the core themes of Smart Spaces 2025: the future of multifamily technology will be built on both connected platforms and strong collaboration. Attendees can look forward to hearing more of his perspective during the conference sessions, alongside other leaders who are driving meaningful change in property management and resident engagement.
