During its presentation to advertisers in New York during the 2026 IAB NewFronts, LG Electronics announced the launch of new exclusive programming on its LG Channels FAST platform as part of a strategy to “premiumize” its free ad-supported streaming offering. The company introduced new exclusive channels including Life’s Good Channel, All Chewed Up, and LG Channels World of Pups. The exclusive programming will be available through LG Channels on LG smart TVs. LG said the new channels are part of an effort to expand its original and exclusive content lineup for its FAST service and enhance the LG Channels viewing experience with more curated programming.

Market Impact

TV manufacturers are continuing to build out their first-party FAST platforms to grow advertising tied to connected TV usage. Exclusive and original channels are becoming more important in making FAST offerings a more central part of the TV viewing experience and increasing viewing within these platforms. Because FAST platforms are built into the TV interface, manufacturers can feature their own channels directly within the user experience.

The FAST market is top-heavy, and distribution driven. As shown in the previous chart, a handful of services dominate usage, with the top 3–4 platforms accounting for a disproportionate share of total viewing. After the leaders, there is a sharp drop-off into a long tail of niche or lightly used services. Services with prominent placement on smart TVs and integrated search and recommendations consistently outperform standalone apps. Success depends on device integration, visibility, and frictionless access, reinforcing FAST’s role as a complementary, ad-supported layer in the broader streaming ecosystem.

As FAST operators invest in more exclusive and premium programming to differentiate their services and improve advertising monetization, the market leaders will be those that control distribution, maximize viewing within their platforms, and align content investment with advertising revenue.
