Parks Associates Canadian research finds one-fifth of broadband households own a functioning home security system. Additionally, 34% of Canadian households with security can monitor and control the system through a mobile device.

“Low awareness, the lack of a concise value proposition, and privacy and security concerns are all barriers to smart home adoption,” Paris said. “Successful channels in this early market stage bundle smart home services with other, more well-known services and provide a more consultative selling approach, including a one-on-one interaction with consumers.”
