Brinks Home commands highest monthly home security fees at $66.50 as consumer spending rises

New research finds average security system spending increased 26% year over year, while 19 million US households purchased smart video devices in the past year

New research from Parks Associates, featured in “Home Security in Transition: The Future of Protection,” finds that Brinks Home commands the highest average monthly home security service fees among leading providers at $66.50. The industry average is $55.70. The findings come as consumer spending on home security systems increases and demand grows for smart cameras and video doorbells.

The research shows considerable variation in monthly service fees across leading security brands. Brinks Home’s fees average $66.50 per month, followed by Vivint at $63.90 and ADT at $60.60. Ring’s fees average less than $50 per month, while local and regional security providers average $42.41.

"Apple's entry into home security could help reduce barriers to adoption by making devices easier to install, connect, and use," said Jennifer Kent, SVP and Principal Analyst, Parks Associates. "Consumers want products that work together with minimal setup, ideally with one-click activation. Simplifying installation and everyday use will be increasingly important as households add more cameras, video doorbells, and security devices."

Parks Associates finds that 15% of US internet households, representing approximately 19 million households, purchased a smart video device in the past year. As competition increases, security providers will need to balance pricing with customer value, making it easier for households to add devices and expand their systems over time. The combination of higher upfront spending, continued video device adoption, and demand for professional services creates opportunities for both established providers and new entrants.

"The growth in video devices is creating more opportunities for security companies to reach consumers before they purchase a traditional security system," Kent said. "Cameras and video doorbells are often the first security products consumers bring into their homes. Providers have an opportunity to build on these purchases by offering professional installation, additional devices, monitoring, and services that give customers a reason to maintain an ongoing relationship."

“Home Security in Transition: The Future of Protection” examines consumer security needs, adoption trends, and monitoring preferences, including hybrid models. It identifies churn drivers, satisfaction metrics, and openness to new technologies like proactive deterrents and automated detection. The research tracks the future trajectory of home protection, from traditional systems to emerging service models.
