Q: How will the continued rise of DIY security expand the smart home?
A: As DIY security and self-monitoring adoption continues to grow, the need for smart home devices increases, especially smart lighting devices. Lighting is a key deterrent for would be burglars, and lighting that reacts to the presence of that burglar is very effective. Security and lighting go hand-in-hand. Other smart home categories like smart sensors and audio are also important to security and will expand with the increase in DIY security. Sensors increase the coverage and monitoring capability of security. Audio is another excellent deterrent to burglary, automated audio that draws attention to the home in case of intrusion, is unwanted attention for burglars.
