Parks report highlights synergies of home security, home control systems

Security Systems NewsA significant correlation exists between ownership of a security system and having an installed home controls system, according to Home Systems:  Home Controls, a new report from Parks Associates.

While only 13 percent of respondents that didn't own a security system reported some type of home control system in their home, the percentage jumped to 30 percent when looking at households with a security system.

.... According to Parks Associates, respondents were enthusiastic about the services a combination unit would provide, such as lighting control when the homeowner was out of town and the security system calling the police and paging the homeowner in the event of a break-in.  Overall, the group found current offerings were too expensive or "rinky-dink" to be worthwhile.
