Smart Energy Summit to feature session, sponsored by Bidgely, on maximizing energy data

New data from Parks Associates finds 23% of U.S. broadband households plan to buy a smart thermostat in 2019, while 24% are likely to buy a smart lightbulb. The growth in connected devices will further expand the amount of consumer data available, and the IoT research firm’s 10th-annual Smart Energy Summit: Engaging the Consumer will feature a special session, “The Energy Data Goldmine,” to discuss opportunities for utilities to leverage data to strengthen customer relationships, realize new revenue opportunities, and modernize grid operations.

“Data is a new and important form of currency in the IoT ecosystem, where AI and machine learning can unlock the value in data for a variety of players, including utilities and energy providers,” said Brad Russell, Research Director, Connected Home, Parks Associates. “Our research shows consumers are generally uncomfortable with an outside party controlling their ‘stuff,’ but energy services built on consumer data can customize and personalize load control and other energy solutions to expand participation and save energy.”

“Bidgely is leading data analytics innovation with its AI-powered Energy Management solution for providing key insights to customers across every segment of their business-- whether it is Energy Efficiency, Customer Engagement, Connected Homes, or understanding the DER resources and helping utilities to drive control and provide targeted programs,” said Abhay Gupta, CEO, Bidgely. “In addition, Bidgely’s UtilityAI and data insights, powered by their disaggregation technology, have put the company in a great position to provide utilities the opportunity to shape how customers interact with the grid and to drive new utility value streams while doing it.”
