Parks Associates research shows that the mobile world is quickly growing and making an impact in the way companies do business, and for the Home Shopping Network, mobile is providing a new image- and scores of new customers.
Despite HSN losing some of its market power at the beginning of the digital era, the company has managed to find leadership that enabled it to capitalize on mobile's momentum.
Parks Associates research shows that by the year 2015, 84 percent of mobile subscribers in North America and 88 percent in Western Europe will be smartphone users. This provides unlimited possibility for companies who develop apps or otherwise utilize the mobile shift, and HSN's CEO, Mindy Grossman, has invested time and hours to ensure her company capitalizes on these digital advancements and thrives in the digital age.
12% of U.S. smartphone owners currently use apps heavily to shop for physical goods, says Parks Associates, and that number has had a significant effect on HSN's profits. Today, more than half of all new HSN customers come from the company's mobile channel which has helped to boost the company's yearly sales to over $3.3 billion.
