Charles Cheevers, CTO of ARRIS (Twitter @ARRISEVERYWHERE) will be the morning keynote speaker at the 2014 CONNECTIONS Conference, May 14. His address, "Gateways and Set-Top Box Evolution: Powering the Future of Home Infotainment," will address the role of 4K, cloud services, and set-tops in delivering a multiscreen, multiuser experience in the connected home.
Parks Associates research finds video consumption among U.S. broadband households has increased from 23 hours per week in 2010 to almost 30 hours per week in 2014, with nearly 20 hours spent on the TV. Globally, over 60% of pay-TV households receive their service from a cable provider. This research demonstrates that multiscreen services stemming from the set-top and television set will be key in delivering content to consumers as the market continues to develop.
CONNECTIONS is a three-day executive conference featuring research presentations, keynotes, and interactive sessions focused on emerging technologies, value-added services, marketing strategies, and business models for the entertainment and smart home industries. This year's conference will take place May 13-15 at the San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront hotel.
