One of the last comments from my panel yesterday on Connected TVs: Beyond OTT: the smart TV business is where the mobile space was seven years ago. Man, if I'm making my business from selling access and services, I don't want to foster an environment where the hardware makers and the apps development community has more presence than I do. I do think that the pay-TV industry needs to embrace multi-platform solutions, but in a way that keeps their branding (remote user interface) on as many devices as possible.
