Matthew McLeggon, Business Development Director at FreeWheel, answers the following industry question: "What do you think is the most challenging issue for your company as it relates to the connected home?"

Media companies who seek to monetize content across screens face a very fragmented ecosystem. Television is being consumed on a multiplicity of devices -- phones, tablets, TV's, game consoles, connected devices, DVR's, traditional VOD environments -- each with differing rules and technical limitations around how content and ads can be delivered, interacted with and ultimately measured. As television companies look to unify linear/digital business operations and technology infrastructure, fragmentation has emerged as perhaps the industry's most significant challenge. Core to FreeWheel's mission is facing this issue head-on by providing clients with an enterprise advertising platform that works on all screens, across the entire ecosystem, at scale.

FreeWheel participated on a CONNECTIONS session on Tuesday, May 13. Joined by representatives from Accedo, Flurry, PBS, and ShopSavvy, the group discussed evolution of apps into a channel for cloud-based entertainment and services, the opportunities that companies are leveraging today, and where this unique channel will go in the future.
