Parks Associates research shows, despite cord-cutting fears inspired by connected CE and OTT video, pay-TV adoption rates are holding steady. In the U.S., 90% of OTT service subscribers also subscribe to a pay-TV service. Furthermore, pay-TV adoption is higher among connected CE owners than among those without; 97% of U.S. broadband households with three or more connected CE devices have a subscription.

However, operators will face increased competition from Netflix as the firm expands across Europe. Parks Associates reports over 50% of U.S. broadband households with a connected CE watch at least one hour of video per week using Netflix.

Tricia Parks, CEO of Parks Associates, will be speaking on this topic at the Connected TV World Summit, as part of the panel "Technology that will Shape the Pay TV Connected Home" on Thursday, June 12. The session, with speakers from Cox, Liberty Global, ADB, and Verimatrix, examines the impact of current and future innovations on pay-TV services and operator strategies.
