Residents connect with do-it-yourself home security

“Today, these are consumer-friendly products,” said Tom Kerber, director of research for the Dallas-based Parks Associates, which follows the home-securtity industry.

“You can basically connect with a few clicks on some software and you’re off and running,” Kerber said. “And even though security may be what’s in most people’s minds, there are a ton of uses (for a video security system) and it appeals to a variety of people.”
