TXU Energy and SolarCity are establishing the TXU Energy Solar program, which is part of TXU's broader strategy to support solar and other forms of renewable generations to meet customer needs. The solar fund provides a $1,000 incentive for new or current TXU Energy residential customers who sign up for the solar offer. The $5 million incentive fund was created to accelerate solar energy adoption in Texas.
SolarCity power systems are different than usual solar panels which rely on direct sunlight. SolarCity's power systems will remain interconnected to the local utility grid, and they will automatically begin to draw power from the grid whenever they need it, therefore customers won't experience any power interruptions when a switch occurs between solar system power and the utility grid.
