As a followup to the Smart Energy Summit held February 28 - March 1, we invite attendees to listen to a virtual keynote address, "Why Smarter Energy is Inevitable, but Utilities' Role is Not" from Allan Schurr, VP Strategy and Development, Global Energy and Utilities, IBM.
The Energy and Utilities industry is undergoing a major transformation with new technologies, operational changes, policy shifts and changing consumer demands. As a result, utilities are being driven to implement new business strategies that foster innovation, simplify operations, improve efficiency and motive consumers. In 2011, IBM unveiled findings from its Global Utility Consumer Survey, following interviews with 10,000 people in 15 countries, to identify the motivations, behaviors, expectations, and influences of today's energy consumer. By understanding the needs of customers, the industry can better recognize the barriers for change, discover new opportunities and adopt new methods of communication, in an effort to create longer term relationships.
