Parks Associates today announced that IBM, Platinum Sponsor at CONNECTIONS™ at TIA, will host the special session “Industry Convergence and the Smarter Home Cloud” on Wednesday, June 6, 2:30 p.m. The session features leading IBM executives discussing the convergence in CE and mobile devices and cloud-based delivery for services in media & entertainment, healthcare, telecom, and energy.

CONNECTIONS™ at TIA, June 5-7, Dallas, Tex., is the leading event for service providers, device manufacturers, and advanced technology companies working on solutions for the connected consumer. Conference sessions will address strategies to leverage consumer interest in cloud-based services. Parks Associates reports almost one-third of U.S. broadband households find remote control of lighting, thermostats, and appliances via computers or mobile phones to be highly appealing.

"Our research shows multiple opportunities reside in the cloud, which could boost adoption in multiple industries," said Stuart Sikes, president, Parks Associates. "While the U.S. market for monitored security services currently stands at 18% of homes, 28% are interested in a security monitoring service with web cameras. IBM covers multiple services areas, and we are pleased to have them at CONNECTIONS™, which provides a holistic view of the connected home ecosystem."

The IBM-hosted session will discuss how devices are connecting people to services allowing for safety and security, energy management, health, and overall convenience. As companies tap into new service-based business models to enhance the customer experience, a cloud-based service delivery approach is emerging to allow quick development and delivery of services and capabilities.
