"Utilities are trialing HAN-activated meters, but it will take some time and testing before they are ready for mass deployments," said Bill Ablondi, director, home systems research, Parks Associates. "Consumer demand for energy-saving solutions is high now, meaning there are immediate opportunities for multiple types of players, including service providers and CE manufacturers, to develop their own solutions.
