IBM, Microsoft, Hillcrest Labs, PrimeSense, and Nuance Mobile to Discuss Market at CONNECTIONS™ at TIA
Parks Associates will explore the implications of gesture and voice recognition technologies, including the growing popularity of offerings such as Apple's Siri and Microsoft's Kinect, in a special session at CONNECTIONS™: The Digital Living Conference and Showcase, co-located with TIA 2012: Inside the Network, June 5-7 in Dallas, Texas. The session “The Human TV Remote: Gesture and Voice Recognition," June 5 at 2:30 p.m., features executives from IBM, Microsoft, Hillcrest Labs, PrimeSense, and Nuance Mobile.
"Siri voice recognition is a popular feature, and nearly 40% of iPhone 4S owners now want similar voice features for their TVs," said Kurt Scherf, VP, Principal Analyst, Parks Associates. "Gesture and voice-control offerings create new, immersive entertainment experiences and could boost adoption of other enhancements, such as 3DTV, currently at only 6% of North American broadband households. With these technologies, providers can offer unique interfaces between viewer and content, which should lead to higher customer satisfaction and levels of engagement with programming and advertising.”
During “The Human TV Remote" CONNECTIONS™ session, Parks Associates will present consumer research and trends, including the ramifications on consumer use and analysis of new applications. Featured executives:
-- Scott Burnett, Director, Global Consumer Electronics Industry, IBM
-- Ben Huang, Director, Worldwide Marketing, Interactive Entertainment Business, Microsoft
-- Chad Lucien, SVP, Sales & Marketing, Hillcrest Labs
-- Aaron Sheedy, VP, Mobile Products, Nuance Mobile
