I recently took part in a video interview with Digital TV Europe, where I looked at both the implications of LTE broadcast technology on our industry, and the role of the access network CDN.
As we enter a more connected and mobile-centric world, operators and service providers face a rapidly evolving challenge of meeting the wireless technological requirements behind delivering very high bandwidth and data to lots of connected user devices. The move towards LTE Broadcast and Content Delivery Networks (CDN) will not only drastically increase network efficiency, but also deliver the advanced multi-screen services demanded by today's and tomorrow's consumer.
Underpinning the quality of experience on mobile networks
LTE is going to enable the consumption of higher quality content on the move, and as I pointed out to Digital TV Europe's Stuart Thomson, we will soon see an increasing importance on the types of content being pushed closer towards the consumer. We're starting to see a global shift towards mobility and LTE broadcast is underpinning the quality of experience. Regardless of whether it's in a different room, different house or different street, the media experience is now shifting with the consumer.
In addition, the arrival of our new award-winning Media Delivery Network (MDN) solution has been designed by operators to accelerate content- particularly video content- across the network. It stands out on the market because it leverages both our wireless and video heritages and offers the ability to process video efficiently, while also leveraging the network's capability, fixed and wireless.
