Energy storage startup company, Aquion Energy has received over $100 million in investments and grants, with contributions from Bill Gates and Bright Capital. The company plans to use its financial backing to increase production at its manufacturing plant in order to start shipping its battery storage system, the Aqueous Hybrid Ion, in the first half of 2014.
Aqueous Hybrid Ion batteries are designed for both small and large-scale stationary energy storage while providing high-performance, low-cost, operational safety, and sustainability value to the customer. Aquion’s batteries supply flexible, emissions-free capacity that optimizes currently assets while also enabling broad adoption of renewable energy technologies such as wind and solar.
