Electric vehicles and alternative energy is all the rave. It is hip being green, but how many people are actually going out there and consciously buying energy efficient products to be green? Or is it to save the green in their pockets? I would like to know your thoughts on consumer motivations behind purchasing green products.

Just saw a Reuters article that says that smartphones will help make energy management and being green more fun. Specifically, smartphone apps will help you decide on which energy-efficient light bulbs are right for your home, or help you find the nearest electric-charging station for your electric vehicle.
I dunno...you still have to go to Home Depot to buy those bulbs, and that's always a beat-down.
