Accenture and Siemens have recently formed a joint venture within the smart grid field in order to improve the energy efficiency, grid operations, and reliability of utilities.
The new company, named Omnetric Group, will combine Siemens’ products and solutions with Accenture’s management and technology consulting, systems integration and managed-services capabilities. Omnetric Group will provide advanced solutions and services focused on data management and systems integration to the energy industry. These solutions will integrate operational technologies with IT systems that support smart metering, energy consumption, and work and asset management.
Omnetric Group will begin operations pending regulatory approval and other customary closing conditions. The company will be headquartered in Munich, operating initially in Europe and the United States with further global expansion planned in the future.
