The efficiency of HVAC (heating, ventiliation, and air conditiong) technology is improving due to increased demand for higher-efficiency buildings and stricter energy-efficient regulations.

Currently, HVAC accounts for 40 percent of total building energy consumption and thus 35-40 percent of total worldwide energy consumption, but things are looking up for efficient HVAC market growth.

Although the global recession of 2009 had a negative effect on the growth of efficient HVAC systems, annual revenue from energy efficient HVAC systems is set to grow substantially in the next decade.  HVAC innovation over this time will be driven by cost savings from more efficient energy use.
