CONNECTIONS™ to Examine Business Threats to Mobile Operators in Mobile Cloud Session Next Month

App stores, social networking platforms, and cloud-based innovations are forcing mobile operators to reexamine their business models, according to Parks Associates, which noted global smartphone sales surged more than 70% in 2010. Executives from Ericsson, Femto Forum, HCL, Telcordia, and Zodiac Interactive will join Parks Associates for the session “The Mobile Cloud: Apps, Services and Innovations" at CONNECTIONS™: The Digital Living Conference and Showcase, June 28-30 in Santa Clara.

“Over one-third of U.S. smartphone users prefer accessing mobile content through apps rather than a web browser," said Harry Wang, Director, Health & Mobile Product Research, Parks Associates. "Parks Associates has called on operators to beef up their own content and value-added service offerings in light of threats from app stores. With the success of storefronts such as Apple’s iTunes and Google’s Android Market, operators must work to close the gap."
