The Personal Cloud Is About Functionality

“Today we are really looking more at the functional side of the personal cloud, rather than just the storage,” said Brett Sappington of Parks Associates. In this interview, filmed at CONNECTIONS , Sappington was referring to the idea that features beyond storage are driving customers to adopt the use of cloud for doing things that would have remained on a device in years past. Sappington talks about the customer’s view of privacy, the definition of data ownership and how applications are becoming integral to the personal cloud.

In the end, those entities that do the best job of securing their customers’ trust will have the most success. As alluded to in this interview, those companies that are the most trusted might not necessarily be the traditional Internet companies.
