More Power To You, Technology Aims to Bring Information to Home Via Utility Lines

Telephony U.S.-based Media Fusion has yet another approach for using power lines as a last-mile solution. "Media Fusion is inscribing data onto the magnetic field instead of embedding it in the AC flow," said Kurt Scherf, an analyst for home networks at Parks Associates. "However, some people say it's completely against the laws of physics." And though the technology was patented in December, no one has seen its solution.

Executives at Media Fusion could not be reached for comment.
