DLNA is based on the Universal Plug and Play protocol (UPnP). UPnP is used by DLNA both to discover other devices and to communicate between them.5 As of February 2014, there were in excess of 9,000 distinct products on the market that had been DLNA certified. Parks Associates indicated that there were nearly 3 billion DLNA products on the market in 2014 and projected over 7 billion by 2018.
