CONNECTIONS™ Digital Living Conference to Examine $12 Billion Tech Support Market Next Month

Parks Associates announced "Technical Support as a Value-added Service" will be a key session at CONNECTIONS™: The Digital Living Conference and Showcase in Santa Clara on Wednesday, June 29. Executives from Dell, EchoStar, iTOK.NET, and PlumChoice will join host Parks Associates to discuss opportunities across retail, OEM, service provider, and independent channels for consumer tech support services, a market that will approach $12 billion in U.S. revenues by 2015.

“As customer retention becomes the top priority in service provider strategies, tech support is an area where providers can significantly improve satisfaction and, with remote diagnosis and troubleshooting, set the stage for future fee-based services," said Kurt Scherf, VP, Principal Analyst, Parks Associates. "More than 65 million U.S. households, over 70% of all PC households, experienced a computer-related tech issue in 2010, which is an immense market yet to be fully tapped."

Parks Associates, which will host CONNECTIONS™ on June 28-30, will present new consumer and SMB research on current and future demand for tech support services. New services gaining consumer interest include mobile support, Parks Associates says. Interest in security services for lost or stolen handsets, including remote lock, lost phone locator, and remote memory wipe, is high in over one-fourth of U.S. broadband households.
