"The Changing Connected CE Environment" features Brett Sappington, director, research, Parks Associates, May 22, 8:30 a.m.

"Wireless devices are powerful tools that enhance our work and personal lives, yet we've only begun to scratch the surface of mobile technologies' capabilities and benefits," said CTIA VP and Show Director Rob Mesirow. "Attendees of the CONNECTIONS™ co-located conference at CTIA 2013 will get a better sense of how big data and connected consumer products are becoming closer to reality for today's consumers, who recognize the advantages of being able to do everything from remote monitor their homes' energy usage to watch and record security systems in their homes."

"The data from connected products and systems is the key that will unlock new products, features, and applications," Kerber said. "Data analytics will transform the connected home into the smart home."

"Forty-four percent of tablet owners increased their video viewing on this device over the past year, and 32% of smartphone owners report a similar increase," Sappington said. "Ownership of connected and mobile CE has fundamentally changed consumer habits, pushing the number of U.S. online video viewers to more than 190 million by 2017. At CONNECTIONS™, we will examine the implications of connected CE proliferation and its ripple effect in multiple areas, including content licensing, user interfaces, and broadband and value-added services."
