US connected home revenues will reach $500m in 2012

Research from Parks Associates estimates 2012 US revenues from broadband connected home service bundles, including control, automation, and security monitoring services, will be approximately $500 million.

The international research firm hosts CONNECTIONS Europe on 13-14 November 2012, in Amsterdam, and will present research on technologies, services, partnerships, and monetisation strategies for service providers. GreenPeak Technologies, People Power Company, Sigma Designs, SEAS-NVE, Orange, iControl Networks, N.V. Nuon Energy, Telecom Italia, AlertMe, Swisscom, and Echelon will address the changing market dynamics for control and energy systems in the home, including consumer interest, awareness levels, and steps to attract new customers.

Parks Associates estimates over 50 per cent of Western European households will have a data network by the end of 2012, creating the foundation for new service deployments such as remote home monitoring and energy management. “Offering bundled services and interactive features is critical for service providers in customer retention and subscriber growth, ” said Stuart Sikes, President, Parks Associates.
