Game consoles, tablets rank as most popular holiday CE gift

Gaming consoles and tablets are the most popular CE gift purchases for family members during the holiday season, according to a new report from Parks Associates. The survey shows that among US broadband households, 47 percent of game-console shoppers and 45 percent of tablet shoppers plan to buy these products as gifts for a household member, compared to 24 percent of tablet and game-console shoppers in 2010. The top-three CE gifts for the 2013 holiday season are game consoles, MP3 players and tablets. Smartphones are the second most popular CE product, however only 45 percent plan to give this device as a gift. Laptops are eighth and desktops rank sixteenth on the list of popular CE gift purchases.
