AT&T adds 198k U-verse TV subs in Q3

US telco AT&T had reached 4.3mn active subscribers to its managed IPTV service ‘U-verse TV’ by the end of the third quarter of this year, having added 198,000 customers in the three-month period.

The company adds that triple-play services delivered under its ‘U-verse’ brand continued to drive a transformation in its wireline consumer operations, as reflected by the fact that consumer broadband, video and voice over IP revenues now represent 59 percent of wireline consumer revenues, up from 51 percent in the year-earlier quarter.

Total revenues across all operations for the third quarter of this year remained flat on an annual basis to reach US$ 31.5bn, while net income also stayed flat at US$ 3.6bn.

A report just out from US analysts Parks Associates has predicted that the nation’s telcos (led by AT&T) will drive pay-TV growth over the next five years, while the market share of cable and satellite continues to decline.
