Roku and Amazon Fire TV Continue to Gain Market Share; Chromecast and Apple TV Fall Behind

Roku continues to be the market leader for streaming devices, but Amazon’s Fire TV devices have made significant inroads over the last year, according to a report released by market research firm Parks Associates.

Over the last year, Roku grew its share of the market for TV streaming devices from 33 percent to 37 percent, and Amazon Fire TV grew its share from 16 percent to 24 percent. Google’s Chromecast (18 percent) and Apple TV (15 percent) both saw market share declines. The report compares the installed base for streaming devices in the first quarter of 2017 to the same quarter a year ago.
