Black Friday Shoppers Favor Devices

The Thanksgiving leftovers will barely be cold before consumers head out for holiday shopping. Research shows consumer electronic devices will be high on buyers’ lists when they hit the stores this year for Black Friday.

Gadgets are hot with consumers. According to Parks Associates, 60% of consumer-electronics holiday shoppers plan to purchase at least one device on Black Friday. But that’s not all—the research also shows many households began their holiday shopping before the week of Black Friday. Specifically, by now 71% of shoppers have already been plunking down their money for the latest tech.

Parks Associates says with shoppers starting early, the retailers that offered “pre-Black Friday” sales may have made a good decision. Some of the hot items this year include tablets, smartphones, game consoles, and flat-panel TVs. Overall, connected devices are some of the most desired items. Parks says tablets rank at the top of people’s wish lists, while smartphones are the most common replacement purchase this holiday season.
