Big cable companies lose subscribers in Q1 2026 but outpace Q1 2025: Report

Though they still are struggling, strategies big cable companies are using to stanch subscriber losses seem to be working, according to a new report from Parks Associates.

Parks Associates report also pointed to the overall trend of converged connectivity services for cable and other providers. The organization found that during the first half of this year AT&T and Verizon introduced home internet and TV bundles. This simplifies billing and strengthens customer loyalty, the firm said.

“The competitive landscape has shifted from winning subscribers at any cost to keeping existing customers through better pricing, simplified service offerings, and integrated connectivity,” Parks Associates’ senior director of research Kristen Hanich said in a press release about the cable and convergence report. “Providers are investing in strategies that reduce churn while strengthening the value of broadband through mobile bundles and improved customer experiences.”

The convergence of technologies to create a holistic environment for consumers is a topic that Parks Associates has touched on before. In March, the firm released a report titled “Seeing the Unseen: Delivering Connectivity With Confidence.” A key finding of the report is that in-home Wi-Fi performance is an increasingly important factor in selection of a broadband provider.
