Smart Home Trends For Multifamily Properties

Parks Associates’ recent whitepaper, From Smart Home to Building Intelligence argues that multifamily properties are moving beyond standalone smart-home features toward integrated building-intelligence platforms that unify connectivity, access, automation, security, and energy management.

Parks Associates and DOOR report that connected building deployments can deliver a 20% average increase in operating efficiency, an 18% reduction in operating costs, a 19% reduction in energy costs, an 18% reduction in water costs, and a 21% decrease in safety and security incidents. While the study focuses on multifamily properties, the underlying takeaway extends to commercial and institutional markets: integration produces more value than isolated smart devices.
