Amazon Fire TV Gains Market Share, Voice Upgrades

The new features arrive as Amazon has gained traction in the marketplace. While Roku remains the most popular streaming media player, according to Parks Associates, Amazon has moved into a second place tie with Google's Chromecast.

Roku's market share fell from 34% to 30% of streaming devices purchased from the first quarter of 2015 to the first quarter of 2016, the research firm says. Amazon and Google each sold 22% of devices -- Amazon increased its share from 16% last year, while Google's fell from 23% -- while Apple TV earned 20%, up from 13%.
