European research from Parks Associates shows 8 per cent of UK broadband households have at least one smart watch. These wearables, which can connect to the Internet, create new health, mobile payment, and smart home opportunities for companies in the IoT ecosystem, according to the firm’s consumer research project Connected Consumer in Europe.
“The IoT concept is so all encompassing it is easy to miss its practical implications for specific markets, industry players, and consumers,” said Jennifer Kent, Director, Research Quality & Product Development, Parks Associates. “Consumer IoT is all about the connected lifestyle, which is expanding beyond smartphones in a meaningful way, creating new applications for people to live independently and monitor their health.”
