Parks Associates to host smart home research workshop at Connected Health Conference, October 25 in Boston

International research firm Parks Associates announced today it will host the research workshop, “Connected Health and the Smart Home: Assessing the Crossover Opportunities,” on October 25 in Boston, prior to the start of the Connected Health Conference. The workshop will examine strategies to deliver healthcare innovations through a connected home, featuring consumer research and executive insight, with speakers from GE Lighting, GreatCall, Honeywell, MivaTek, Nortek, Orbita Health, RedMed, Reemo Health, and Reflexion Health.

“Consumerization of healthcare moves care services into the home, where people have connected devices and apps to aid with caretaking, disease management, sleep tracking, and more,” said Jennifer Kent, Director of Research Quality & Product Development, Parks Associates. “Crossover opportunities between connected health and smart home create new revenue opportunities and new avenues to support consumers’ health, fitness, and independent living. In this workshop, we will explore the paths to success in these converging areas and the challenges in developing solutions that meet both consumer and industry needs.”

“The connected home is an important component of the personal connected health market, supporting everything from consumer wellness and fitness, to chronic disease management and aging in place. And, novel applications of technologies like artificial intelligence and voice-activated devices are creating new opportunities and spurring innovation,” said Richard Scarfo, Vice President, PCHAlliance, and Director of the Connected Health Conference. “This workshop adds critical perspective and highlights new business opportunities for our attendees. PCHAlliance is pleased to welcome Parks Associates to CHC17 as a partnering organization.”

Parks Associates recently released “Market Snapshot - Digital Health & the U.S. Aging Population,” which shows adoption of connected health devices has increased to 41% in 2017, up 4% from 2016. The workshop will feature multiple sessions focusing on the use cases for connected health in the smart home, including business models that leverage consumer interest to create engagement and new revenues.
