Tom Kerber, Director of Research, to speak at DistribuTECH next week

Parks Associates released new research today showing 35% of U.S. broadband households would participate in an energy program advertised by a security provider. Consumers are 40% more likely to participate in an energy program if it is offered by a security provider than an energy provider.

Tom Kerber, Parks Associates Director of Research, Energy and Home Controls, will discuss the implications of this new research at DistribuTECH on Wednesday, February 10, 2016, during the session "Engaging Customers With Demand Response Devices" from 9:30-11:00 A.M. He will also moderate “Breakfast Roundtable: Internet of Things (IoT)” at 8:00 A.M. with Koustuv Ghoshal, Head of Business Development & Head of Energy/Utilities Resources, T-Systems North America (a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom AG).

Likelihood of Participating in an Energy Program

“Security providers have an opportunity to capitalize on their strong connections with their consumers by expanding into energy management programs,” Kerber said. “They can also leverage their strong reputation with consumers to forge beneficial partnerships with utilities that want to leverage connected devices in the home.”

DistribuTECH  takes place February 9-11 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, alongside sister events the Electric Light & Power Executive Conference and Utility Products Exposition. Other participants in Kerber’s session include David Steidtmann, Sr. Consultant, G-Ink, and Michael Brown, Manager, Demand Response & Distributed Energy Resources, NV Energy.

Parks Associates will host the firm’s annual Smart Energy Summit: Engaging the Consumer, February 22-24, in Austin, TX, with speakers and attendees representing utilities, broadband service providers, smart home vendors, residential security service providers, OEMs, retailers, and CE, appliance, and home-improvement manufacturers. The event features keynotesfrom EnergyHub, NRG, and Schneider Electric.
