Academically, he has been distinguished for his various innovative designs in digital, analog, embedded, and micro-electro-mechanical products.

Dr. Waqaas Al-Siddiq is speaking at Connected Health Summit, at the Dallas Cowboys home at The Star in Frisco, Texas next week May 23-25, hosted by Parks AssociatesConnected Health Summit is a three-day executive conference focused on the impact of connected devices and IoT healthcare solutions on consumers at home.

Here are some of his industry insights below:

How have business models for at-home health and care changed and evolved over the past few years?

Over the past few years, home health and care has evolved to encompass connectivity, near real-time monitoring, and a focus on outcomes and measuring those outcomes. This has largely been driven by a combination of adopting connectivity, downward costs for medical devices, and access to smartphones. The combination of these technologies have made medical devices more accessible, cheaper and the ability to deliver better and more accurate care remotely.

Has demand for more preventative and predictive approaches to care changed? Or is the market for this more or less the same as it was a few years ago?

The market itself has remained the same for predictive approaches. The market for prevention has grown significantly. From what I see, individual perception is an expectation for more predictive approaches which is ahead of what is currently available.

What have you learned about the user experience side of telehealth? Both on the patient and provider side. How have you changed your approach, services, processes, or training based on feedback?

Telehealth comes in so many different forms and apps that users get confused and are unsure which app to use for what. To solve this problem with our customers, we have taken the approach to consolidate solutions and services through one application/platform that allows users to consume whichever service they want.
