Residential Voice-over-IP: Analysis & Forecasts

AN INDUSTRY REPORT FROM PARKS ASSOCIATES
By John Barrett, Director of Research

Publish Date: Jan 04
Purchase Report Online

SYNOPSIS
After years of development, VoIP is finally ready for prime time. Adoption will be strong over the next three years and bring dramatic changes in the telecom landscape.

This report analyzes demand for VoIP and predicts who will win and who will lose in the transition from circuit-switched. Moreover, it profiles all the current and future VoIP service providers and provides detailed consumer survey data on the market.

“Consumers are looking at VoIP service as a replacement for their primary phone line, not as a secondary backup,” said John Barrett, research analyst. “VoIP could also serve as a lure for new broadband subscribers, given the strong interest among narrowband households. The market is still searching for a ‘killer’ broadband application. Wouldn’t it be ironic if it turned out to be telephone service?”
