Leon Husson, Executive Vice President of Consumer Businesses for Philips Semiconductors, provides “Vision” for Multimedia Applications in the Home

Parks Associates is pleased to announce Leon Husson, Executive Vice President, Consumer Business, Philips Semiconductors as the Visionary III keynote at Fall Focus: The Home Multimedia Experience. Mr. Husson will present “The Vision: Connected CE as a Multimedia Hub” on Thursday, November 6 from 2:00 - 2:30 pm.

As the industry moves from analog to digital, wired to wireless, fixed to mobile, the evolution of the “Connected Consumer” concept is well on its way. This concept revolves around electronics manufacturers delivering easy, seamless access to content demanded by consumers, through technologies that can speak to one another within the home and in the outside world. This concept is enabled by the convergence of key devices, such as TVs, PCs, DVD recorders, in the home and the key supporting technologies such as broadband, wireless connectivity and digital processing.

“Philips believes that connected consumer appliances will be key to enabling a seamless and enriching multimedia experience,” said Leon Husson. “Philips is focused on key applications such as digital TVs, LCD TVs and the next-generation of DVD recorders to serve as the hubs of the digitally connected home, making digital content available when you want it, where you want it and at living room prices.”

“The opportunity for developing, marketing, and shipping devices that accept, aggregate, store, and stream multimedia content for the home is expected to be substantial over the next five years,” said Kurt Scherf, Vice President, Research, Parks Associates. “As Philips plays a crucial development role in ‘network-capable’ semiconductors for consumer electronics platforms, we are quite excited to hear Mr. Husson’s perspective on his company’s vision for connected entertainment.”

The Home Multimedia Experience is being held at the Hyatt San Jose on November 5 & 6 and provides an interactive forum for executives to hear from more than 20 industry leaders and learn the latest developments, trends, visions and realities of home multimedia applications. Interactive sessions, led by Parks Associates’ leading analysts, will provide insightful and interactive discussions, the opportunity for cross-industry networking, and the latest insight and analysis into the opportunities and challenges for multimedia connectivity in the home.
