Parks Associates Focuses on Installing Dealers for New Research
Initiative on Technology Trends
Parks Associates launches online research program to provide feedback
to developers of emerging and innovative residential solutions
As installing dealers emerge as a major
distribution force for advanced residential solutions, Parks Associates is
filling an informational void on product trends for this channel. The
market research firm is initiating a new service, the
Installing
Dealer ePanel, which will include quarterly online surveys of
dealers installing home entertainment, security, networking, and control
systems, as well as the associated infrastructure. The service will also
feature "snapshot" data, core dealer profile information, and
trend analysis.
"This work will be focused," said
Tricia
Parks, President of Parks Associates. "We are starting with a
high-end dealer panel of between 250 and 300 members. Once this is
established, we will expand to include a builder panel and then more
standard dealers. We are launching this program with a half-dozen Founding
Partners, clients from manufacturers of key product categories, who will
help guide the research to be a critical component of market intelligence
for all participants in the industry."

Dealer ePanel will collect data from dealerships across the U.S.
through periodic surveys focused on product-related issues, including an
examination of the products dealers support, the products they don't
support, the lines they are adding and dropping, and their relationships
to both suppliers and end users. It will also profile participating
dealers with the goal of understanding how their business models are
changing and how their approach to the market differs depending on their
particular business focus.
The quarterly surveys will be conducted online to provide a more
convenient method of participation for panelists and enable faster
processing of results. The online format also provides a more effective
means of displaying products, concepts, ads, and other "rich"
media to panelists. Participating panelists will receive information to
help them run their businesses, chances to win valuable prizes, industry
recognition, and summary results from the research so they can keep
abreast of their peers.
