CONNECTIONS™ Active at CES 2002

CES International 2002 attendees will have multiple opportunities to get the latest research and analysis on the connected home market from CONNECTIONS™, the International Showcase for Home Networks and Gateways. CONNECTIONS™, co-hosted by CABA and Parks Associates, is hosting two sessions and conducting a workshop at the Las Vegas CES show, which runs from January 8-11, 2002.

The CONNECTIONS™ half-day workshop will take place on January 7 as a primer for CES attendees. Parks Associates' president Tricia Parks and vice president of research Kurt Scherf will present analysis, forecasts, and the firm's latest consumer research on today's emerging residential technologies, including high-tech purchase intentions among key consumer segments and the nation as a whole.

"Our research and analysis indicate that the next two years will be significant for home networking and residential gateways," Parks said. "With such growth potential, the connected home constitutes a complicated industry, and this workshop will offer a clear assessment of this market and get people ready for CES."

CONNECTIONS™ will also sponsor the session Channel Activity on Tuesday, January 8, 2002, from 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. David Dern, marketing director for CABA, and Tricia Parks from Parks Associates will moderate this session, which will examine the different ways to bring a product to market and the key challenges in moving high-tech products, including consumer education and post-purchase installation concerns.

The second CONNECTIONS™-sponsored session, titled Internet Home Alliance, will take place on Wednesday, January 9, 2002, from 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Ron Zimmer, president and CEO of CABA, will moderate this session, which will provide attendees with an overview of the Internet Home Alliance's mission and its activities in increasing consumer comfort with and adoption rates of "Internet Lifestyle" solutions.

"CONNECTIONS™ is pleased to present these two very diverse sessions that focus on complementary areas of the home networking industry," said Zimmer. "Both the Channel and the Internet Home Alliance rely on educating the consumer on the benefits of the technologies being shown at CES."
