CONNECTIONS™ 2002 Comes to the Lone Star State

CONNECTIONS™ 2002, hosted by the Continental Automated Buildings Association (CABA) and Parks Associates, will be held May 14-16, 2002 at the Wyndham Anatole in Dallas, Texas. As the premier international venue for networking and informational opportunities concerning home networking and residential gateway technologies and products, CONNECTIONS™ 2002 expects to host 90+ exhibiting companies and offer presentations from more than 50 leaders in the home networking space.

Parks Associates' own research indicates that 2002 will be a breakthrough year for home networking and advanced services to the home. Revenues from two key home networking components - data and entertainment-centric applications - should top a combined $5 billion. This market is expected to grow to more than $14 billion by 2005. In addition, the rollout of bundled services - facilitated through residential gateways - should pick up pace in 2002 as a plethora of service providers enter the field with varied offerings.

"As the home networking and residential gateway markets have moved from concept to reality over the past few years, CONNECTIONS™ has grown to embrace new topics, new features, and increased value for sponsors and attendees," said Kurt Scherf, vice president of research at Parks Associates. "Our 2002 show will continue to innovate in our areas of discussion, our showcase area, and the value we bring to this industry."

As the adoption of home networks grows, and as consumers and service providers embrace the applications fostered by gateways and connected devices, the diffusion of these solutions will be a catalyst for the innovative services so often desired by Internet Service Providers (ISPs), communications and entertainment providers, security companies, energy service companies, and other providers. To facilitate this success, CONNECTIONS™ 2002 will address market issues in addition to technical and standards issues. Topics include:  Requirements of the whole-house server; moving beyond data: voice and multimedia applications; laying the foundation: wiring communities for connectivity; new roles for information appliances; the role of digital entertainment in the networked home; comparisons and contrasts in the international market; and more.
