Mr. Gil de Bernabé creates and leads large multi-functional multi-geo teams that provide solid advice on the strategic issues shaping the business of our customers and Cisco.

He has over 18 years of international industry experience focused on the convergence of the Internet, telecommunications, media, consumer technologies and software. His functional expertise is in strategic market management and most of his work emphasizes the search for sustainable profitable growth. He has recently led Cisco global initiatives “Drivers of CapEx”, “SP2015: Scenarios of the Future”, “Connected Home: Consumer Broadband”, and he is currently leading the “Broadband Quality Index”.

Fernando joined Cisco in September 1999 as Group Manager to build the IBSG SP team in EMEA. Prior to Cisco, Mr. Gil de Bernabé was a partner in the Telecommunications, Information Technology, Media, and Electronics Practice of Arthur D. Little in Silicon Valley. Before that, he worked for two software startups in Barcelona, Spain, where he developed pioneering mashups of geographical information, CAD, and database systems.

Mr. Gil de Bernabé holds an MBA and MOT from the Haas School of Business and the College of Engineering at U.C. Berkeley (California, USA). He previously graduated (BEE, MS) from the School of Telecommunications Engineering at UPC in Spain.

Udo Biro has experience in the Telecom sector since 1996, first with Siemens and now with Nokia Siemens Networks. He currently is responsible in IPTV Product Management for supporting worldwide sales and shaping the future evolution of the IPTV solution.

Prior to this role he was Account Manager for the sales region Mercosur in the Fixed Networks division. Further on he has experience in various roles in Technical Sales for NGN solutions and in development of voice switches. Udo Biro speaks 6 languages including German, English, and Spanish.

As chief evangelist at Macrovision, Richard Bullwinkle participates and represents Macrovision in industry level discussions to help define the direction of the company. He joined the company in 2007 with the acquisition of Mediabolic, where he was the senior director for product marketing and the chief evangelist.

Richard is well known in the digital networking entertainment industry from his previous roles at Digital Networks North America, Inc. (DNNA) and TiVo. As TiVo's chief evangelist and a senior member of TiVo's product marketing team, Richard helped create and develop the TiVo products, and then played an instrumental role in helping create the well-known publicity around the TiVo products and brand.

Richard joined Mediabolic from DNNA, a wholly owned subsidiary of D&M Holdings U.S., Inc. and the parent company of Rio Audio and ReplayTV. As a senior member of Rio Audio's Product Marketing team, he helped create and market some of the most popular MP3 players in the US. Prior to that he was in charge of the user experience, including software and interface design, at ReplayTV. Richard graduated from Rollins College in Florida with degrees in English and Music.

Peder Burgaard is an information architect and humanistic technologist that has had computer science, technology, and society close at heart every since coding his first game on a Commodore 64. Peder holds degrees in Information Studies (BA & MA) and has delivered insights as a Visiting Researcher at Institute for the Future, Palo Alto during a six month stationing, working on foresight methodologies and how to implement those foresights to insights into client actions while working with the research team for the Ten-Year Forecast and Technology Horizon programs.

Peder is the former producer of the Nordic EXeptional Trendshop 2005 & 2006, an international respected conference and expo showing Slipstream Makers and Mindblowers of our time from global research labs. Currently Burgaard manages the international network, ensuring deep understanding of world wide research projects and exchange of knowledge between Innovation Lab and researchers and scientists on a global scale. Peder delivers research insights and overall weak signals analysis for corporate strategy briefings on new media, smart homes, pervasive computing and emerging technology in general.

Peder is a member of the Global Futures Network, sharing strategic foresights with fellow colleagues and like-minded researchers. Mentionable work experience was his collaboration with IBM researchers at the then newly established group 3D Internet & Virtual Business Opportunities in the UK & USA to deliver insights about innovation strategies and innovation potential of a 3D Internet. He also contributed with ideas to the Metaverse Roapmap Project and is current Global Ambassador for the Association of Virtual Worlds.

Bernhard von Canstein is Director of Business Development for Europe for QUALCOMM MediaFLO technologies. He joined QUALCOMM in 2007, bringing with him more than a decade of experience in the Telecommunications and Technology industries.

Prior to joining QUALCOMM, von Canstein was Senior Manager at Vodafone Germany, where he was responsible for business development activities. Before that, he worked at Vodafone Group Marketing, heading strategic new business activities.

Bernhard was a co-founder of the German content management software developer Tomorrow Technologies and also worked in corporate development for the publisher Gruner & Jahr (Bertelsmann).

He started his career in corporate finance, working in M&A for UBS for example. Bernhard holds an MBA from the IESE Business School.

Debbie Greenstreet is Director of Service Provider Strategy at Texas Instruments. She currently oversees worldwide Voice over Packet strategic marketing for TI's Communications Infrastructure and Voice organization and works closely with Service Providers to ensure TI develops solutions tailored to the wide variety of IP applications and services being planned and deployed throughout globally. She develops worldwide relationships with key service providers, driving long term roadmap directions and investment strategies.

Prior to this role, she served as a product management director for TI's Voice over Packet group, where she was responsible for product definition and direction of all customer premises equipment (CPE) voice products including Voice over Cable, Voice over DSL and small-to-medium enterprise gateway solutions. Previously, she held product management responsibility for various VoIP solutions at Telogy Networks, which was acquired by TI in 1999.

Greenstreet has more than 20 years of experience in the networking and telecommunications field, in hardware and software design, as well as program and product management at companies such as Hyundai Network Systems and Raytheon. She has worked in the VoIP industry since its infancy and has presented at numerous conferences and technical seminars, including the Internet Telephony Expo, VON Conference and Cable IP Telephony conference. She has also published over 20 articles on the subject to date.

Ms. Greenstreet received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Virginia and performed graduate work in computer engineering at George Mason University.

Stefan is the CEO of moreTV Broadcasting GmbH and the former Head of Business Innovation at Siemens Communication Stefan studied Communication Science and Psychology and worked as a scientist at the Ludwig-Maximilians University and the University of Alabama teaching media psychology, media and advertising effects, and entertainment research.

As VP Innovation Strategy and Head of Business Innovation within Siemens Communications, Stefan was heading a Business Innovation Think Tank for fixed and mobile communications within Siemens Communications, which he sometimes refers to as the “Future Business Laboratory” or, more colloquial, the “playground”. The main task of this organization was to act as a think tank for Siemens Information and Communication Networks and Siemens Communications by analyzing and piloting innovative products and business models. As well as securing future business by developing and piloting market- and end-user-driven innovations.

Stefan was Partner at trommsdorff + drüner innovation + marketing consultants, consulting on strategies of business innovation, new product development and innovation marketing.

Stefan’s clients included: Bertelsmann, Deutsche Bahn, Siemens, Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, BMW, British American Tobacco, and Deutsche Telekom.

In his academic life, Stefan has authored and edited various scientific publications and books circling about the effect of digital technologies on innovation and the future of media. In addition he is regularly teaching innovation strategy, business innovation, new product development, and innovation management at various universities, among them the Steinbeis Hochschule, Berlin and the European Business School, where he lectures on a regular basis.

Today, Stefan is CEO of moreTV Broadcasting GmbH. moreTV is market leader for TV-based Services in Germany and realizes with partners innovative TV-centric services and applications on digital video recorders (PVRs) and Set-Top-Boxes.

Laurent Jabiol, Chairman / CEO and co-founder of NEOTION, has next to 20 years of experience in Business Development in high tech, both in the PC and the Digital TV fields.

At 20 years-old, he co-founded and became Sales Director of a pan-European Distributor and Representative of PC peripherals. For 9 years, he was responsible for OEM business with tier one PC makers, as well as for implementing and managing a distribution channel.

Prior to starting NEOTION in 2000, Laurent Jabiol was the Southern Europe Sales and Marketing Director for SCM Microsystems where he successfully developed the PC security and digital television markets, and signed major OEM contracts with PC manufacturers (such as HP), TV Operators, Telcos (such as France Telecom), and also with the French Army (General Delegation for Armaments).

Alx Klive is a respected futurist, inventor, entrepreneur and journalist with experience across a broad spectrum of platforms and industries. Alx is the founder and CEO of WorldTV, an online video service that allows users to easily create their own branded TV channels and to watch channels created by people from all over the world.

Most recently Alx worked as a technology reporter for CNBC Europe as well as an ideas consultant, filing several US patents. He was Site Architect and CTO for YesNoMayb.com, an innovative online dating website.

Previously, Alx launched the 'Millennium Photo Project', to document the 24 hours at the turning of the Millennium. Alx solicited 5000 amateur photographers from around the world to submit their work on the project’s web site. The resulting book ‘Dawn of the 21st Century’ featured photographers from 117 countries and became the largest photojournalism project in history. It received widespread media attention, including articles in the Wall Street Journal and USA Today, and appearances on ABC, CBS, FOX and CNN.

Alx began his career working as a news assignment editor and moved into the multifaceted position of videographer - combining reporter, cameraman, editor, and producer into one. It was in this role that he travelled the world for three years, interviewing prominent figures such as Dennis Hopper, Hilary Clinton, Isabella Rosellini, Andrea Bocelli, Diana Ross and Hunter S. Thompson.

Growing up in London, Alx felt the entrepreneurial tug at a young age, running a series of businesses while still attending school, including a mobile disco, a software company (for the Commodore VIC-20), and a pirate radio station. Later he worked at the infamous Mud Club (London's answer to Studio 54) and founded a popular events company.

Dr. Hans-Joerg Kolbe is a senior researcher at NEC Europe with over nine years of experience in designing solutions for broadband industry and service providers. Amongst his research activities, end-to-end QoS control methods including home networks to support IMS and femto cell based services play an important role. He is active in standardization (particularly TISPAN) and European research projects.

Before joining NEC, Hans-Joerg Kolbe was responsible for broadband network and residential gateway design at a major German ISP.

Christer Larsson has over 15 years of experience in business development and advanced systems design for high-tech companies with experience from the automotive, airline and telecom industries working for such companies as Volvo IT, Carmen Systems and Ericsson.

Christer has been involved in the development of the OSGi technology since 1998, taking part in the design of Ericsson's e-box concept which influenced the first releases of the OSGi specification to a large degree. He is currently the CEO of Makewave (formerly Gatespace Telematics) and the VP EMEA of the OSGi Alliance. Christer is also deeply involved in the open source OSGi project Knopflerfish.

A seasoned electronics executive, LeMoncheck hails from Silicon Image where he was Vice President of the company's Consumer Electronics and PC/Display business. In that role, LeMoncheck was responsible for all product, market and business strategy development and execution and led the company's efforts to promote worldwide adoption of HDMI. Prior to Silicon Image, LeMoncheck was vice president of software and systems engineering for TeraLogic (purchased by Zoran), directing all platform and software implementations for TeraLogic's digital television solutions. He also ran the customer support and professional service organizations, including the development of key design wins at a number of top-tier consumer electronics manufacturers. Prior to joining TeraLogic, LeMoncheck was a member of the founding team at Arithmos, Inc. (purchased by ST Microelectronics), where he was vice president of engineering and developed Arithmos' line of display processors targeted at the flat panel market. In the past, LeMoncheck also directed The LEGO Company's West Coast design center, which was focused on high-tech toys, including the successful MINDSTORMS product line. Earlier in his career, LeMoncheck held staff engineering and design engineering positions at Synaptics, Inc. and NCR Corporation, respectively. LeMoncheck is an active member of the Society for Information Display, having helped form the group's Electronic Device subcommittee.

LeMoncheck attended U.C. San Diego and spent several years researching VLSI for imaging and pattern recognition applications during his graduate studies at Caltech.

Michelle Leyden Li is General Manager of Home Control for Zilog. In this role, Michelle is responsible for business development as well as corporate marketing and strategy. She and her team define and drive implementation of innovative marketing strategies around core products, and new strategic initiatives for vertical markets, product segmentation and promoting brand awareness in the market place. Michelle has over 12 years of experience in the semiconductor/high technology industry. Prior to Zilog, Michelle spent over 10 years at Intel Corporation where she held a variety of senior management positions in product marketing, strategic planning and business development. Michelle has a Bachelors Degree from the State University of New York at Purchase, a Masters of Business Administration Degree from U.C. Davis and a Juris Doctorate from King Hall School of Law, U.C. Davis. She is a member of the Society of Women Engineers and the California State Bar Association.

Mr. Milczewsky has a quite long track record developing communication services. His first job at former “Deutsche Bundespost” was the certification of TV terminals for “Bildschirmtext”, the first interactive videotext system in Germany in the mid 80ies. Being connected with CE industry representatives and the joint development of new service ideas and concepts was always his personal passion. In 1996 he joined Deutsche Telekom’s internet service provider spin off “T-Online International AG” as on of the first one hundred employees. As head of Innovation Management in the Technology Management section of Deutsche Telekoms’s Product House he is now in charge of a team assessing new and upcoming technologies and the development of new products and service concepts.

He is member and delegate of the Home Gateway Initiative from its early beginnings and represented Deutsche Telekom in various standardization bodies and foras, like ETSI and DLNA.

John Newman is responsible for the European introduction of Sonic’s Qflix DVD On Demand solutions for Consumer Download & Burn and Manufacture On Demand. Qflix enables premium Hollywood DVD content to be downloaded and burnt at home using the same copy protection as in-store DVDs. DVD On Demand marries the low cost delivery and wide catalogue availability of electronic distribution with the ubiquitous playability and portability of DVD, making it a strong contender to bridge the gap between the internet and the main screen in the home.

John joined Sonic Solutions in 2003 and has worked in the DVD industry for many years, having previously worked for Panasonic and VOB/Pinnacle Systems.

John holds an MBA from Ashridge and an engineering degree from Durham University.

Frederic Onado, 36, is Vice President EMEA of HomePlug Powerline Alliance, an industry-led initiative established to create specifications for home high-speed powerline networking products and command & control among platforms within the home, and broadband access services to the home.

Frederic is also Vice President Marketing & Sales of SPiDCOM Technologies, a fabless semi-conductor company which specializes in high-speed PLC (Powerline Communication) chips & Linux based software bundles.

Eugen Pfumfel has more then 20 years of in-depth technology experience covering both the communications and the semiconductor industries. In addition to his principal engineering role at Toshiba, since 2003 Eugen has also been responsible for developing the company's European ASIC & Foundry business with particular focus on fabless chip companies.

After leaving university in 1985 Eugen began his career as a development engineer with Mannesmann Kienzle where he gained in-depth technical knowledge and understanding of the communications industry and, in particular, LAN and ISDN applications. Prior to joining Toshiba in 1998, Eugen held an application engineering role at NEC Electronics Europe GmbH, where he was responsible for mobile and wired communication chip/technology support in areas such as GSM, DECT, ATM and ADSL.

Stephen was appointed Managing Director, Europe of ActiveVideo Networks in 2006, and is responsible for commercial operations in EMEA. Stephen has two decades of commercial and technical experience in the European cable, IPTV and telecommunications marketplace. Prior to joining ActiveVideo Networks, Stephen was executive vice president, sales and marketing at ANT plc where he played an instrumental role in the company’s focus on IPTV and its subsequent floatation on the London Stock Exchange. He also served as a global account director for Lucent Technologies, headed up new product development for Concert’s ASP hosting business, and managed the advertising division for BT’s Cable TV Services. Stephen holds a First Class Honors Degree in Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of East Anglia, and an MBA from the London Business School.

Anthony Rodio joined SupportSoft as Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer before moving into his current role as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Operations for SupportSoft’s consumer remote tech support brand, support.com. He joined SupportSoft from SideStep, where he was the vice president of product management Prior to SideStep, Rodio was vice president of marketing at StubHub.com, a fast-growing consumer online marketplace for event tickets. Rodio has also held senior positions at Microsoft, where he was responsible for MSN consumer marketing, and at Amazon.com, where he was general manager for the company's zShops and the Computer Store, following brand management experience at Procter & Gamble. Rodio holds a B.S.B.A. from University of Oregon, an M.S. in Economics from Portland State University and an M.B.A. from Washington University.

Ralf Schäfer received his Dipl.-Ing. and Dr.-Ing. degrees both in electrical engineering from the Technical Unversity of Berlin in 1977 and 1984 respectiveley. In October 1977 he joined the Heinrich-Hertz-Institut (HHI) in Berlin. Since 1989 he is head of the Image Processing Department. In the department he is responsible for about 50 researchers and technicians, about 30 students and currently 25 R&D projects.

He coordinated several national research initiatives (e.g. HDTVT, MINT) and was member of the Technical Module of the European DVB-project (TM-DVB), where he was chairing the Task Force on Digital Terrestrial Television - System Aspects, which specified the DVB-T standard. Currently he is coordinating the Core Technology Cluster of the THESEUS project, which is a German initiative on semantic technologies.

Ralf Schäfer is member of the German “Society for Information Technology” (ITG), where he is chairman of the experts group “Digital Coding” (FG 3.2). Furthermore he is member of the German “Society for Television and Motion Picture Technology” (FKTG), where he belongs to the URTEL Award Committee.

In 1986 he received the paper award of the ITG and in 2000 the Richard Theile Medal of the FKTG.

Jim Wallace joined ARM in 2006 and leads the company's Home & Emerging market segments activity. He has over 23 years of global semiconductor experience, managing marketing and business development, engineering and business units across a number of hi-tech semiconductor companies: Zarlink, Mitel, GEC Plessey Semiconductors and Philips. Jim started his career as an analog design engineer with Philips in Eindhoven and earned his BEng from the University of Limerick.

 

Kurt Scherf studies developments in home networks, residential gateways, digital entertainment, technology development in the housing market, and residential and building management and controls. Kurt is the sole author or contributing author/analyst to more than 60 research reports and studies produced by Parks Associates since 1998.

Kurt joined Parks Associates following a career in political research and multi-tenant dwelling management. He earned his BA from The University of Iowa.
