Broadband / Fixed Network Strategic Business Area - Strong partner in the growing broadband market

Deutsche Telekom has just recently merged the two organizational business units of T-Com and T-Online into the Broadband/Fixed Network (BBFN) strategic business area. With over 9 million broadband lines and 14 million registered Internet customers, the BBFN business area is one of the largest providers in Europe.

Since the end of 2005, T-Com has been setting up a new high-speed network, introduced gradually in ten German towns, that allows download bandwidths of up to 50 Mbit/s. With its "Triple Play" strategy, the business area is expanding its IP services for communication and is adding TV and entertainment services. The new services include Voice over IP as well as the reception of digital TV programs via the Internet (IPTV) through T-Onlines groundbreaking T-Home IP-TV service. In addition, services such as an electronic program guide and time-delay TV and future, interactive or peer-to-peer-services will bring an entirely new dimension to television viewing.

Development of new services in the areas of voice communications, innovative applications and terminal equipment is being moved forward by a special innovation company set up with the express intention of further increasing the business area's pace of innovation. www.t-com.de
