Ralph Ackerman, Ralph
Ackerman Founder and Director, International
Short Film Association
Since 1963, Ackerman has commanded a diverse
and successful career in media. He is a champion
of alternative-independent media and is a
"working" filmmaker. He made his first film in
1963 which was picked as a highlight of the Ann
Arbor Film Festival and sent on a national tour.
In 1971, he published an activist book, entitled
Media. In addition to receiving kudos from
critics, the book sold out. He holds workshops and
consults on independent filmmaking. He wrote
break-thru articles on digital production and
distribution for Release Print magazine. He has a
chapter in the new book published by Focal Press,
Swimming UpStream, A Lifesaving Guide to Short
Film Distribution.
In 2002 he founded the educational, Film Program Cannes
held annually in Cannes, France during the film festival. The
program was in response to the growing need to arm emerging
filmmakers, film professionals, film students and migrating
professionals from other fields such as law and finance with
the essential skills to fund, acquire worldwide distribution
and marketing of independent films. In response to the growing
need for short films as a result of their use on the Internet
and portable viewing devices he founded and became the
director of the International Short Film Association.
Ackerman has been a film judge at many film festivals, has
won several film awards, and has been involved in film
conferences and workshops through out his career. His first
feature, Rock-it Box, was the first Super8 film to be
transferred to "broadcast video" using the then new digital
transfer method in 1980. His multi-format experimental feature
film, Zoo Liquid Prototype shot in 16mm Black & White,
was premiered in New York in 1997. His most recent feature,
Hold True was shot using wide format digital video.
Currently is his concentrating on the distribution of socially
progressive films, e.g., the Death of Two Sons released
by Netflix in 2007.
Ackerman was President and then on the Board of Directors
of the independent film distributor, the New American Cinema:
"Film-Makers' Cooperative" of New York. He has worked with the
Museum of Modern Art's (MoMA New York) Film Department (Film
Study Center) archiving the Coop's extensive files.
During 2008 Ackerman will launch his Ackerman Image Archive
(AIA) web site featuring his 40 + years of still and motion
images giving access to his archive to other filmmakers. His
working studio is in the Chelsea art district of New York
City. |

Ade is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of
Intamac Systems Ltd.
Ade has 20 years experience of developing and
commercialising emerging technology. His career has included
roles in Research, Consulting and Business Development. In
2001 he became CTO and a Director of United Clearing where he
was responsible for developing an industry leading Clearing
and Settlement platform for the mobile sector. The business
enjoyed a successful AIM listing in 2004. Ade founded Wireless
Matters in 2004 to develop eHealth solutions that utilised
wireless and Web 2.0 technology for monitoring and managing a
range of chronic conditions. Ade has a degree in Applied
Chemistry, a Masters Degree in Artificial Intelligence and an
MBA from the Henley Management College where he also founded

Marc was the founder of MacroMind which became Macromedia.
Marc helped invent the first multiple player, the first

‘fathers’ of the multimedia industry. Broadband Mechanics
provides a white label social networking and blogging platform
called PeopleAggregator. The company has developed a number of

Brian Caskey, Vice

As the vice president of worldwide marketing, Brian Caskey
oversees all aspects of marketing at UTStarcom, Inc. Caskey
has more than 25 years of experience in the telecommunications
and IP networking industry and extensive experience in the
successfully design of large, IP-based voice and data networks
for Fortune 500 companies and telecommunications service
providers. Caskey began his career with UTStarcom as vice
president of strategic technical marketing in 2003,
responsible for lecture and consultation on the design and
implementation of large-scale Voice over IP (VoIP) and
next-generation networks.
A frequent featured lecturer at telecommunications and
networking conferences around the world, Caskey's professional
career includes an extensive array of telecommunications

service providers and enterprises in the world and over 10
years at 3Com/CommWorks in various executive, technical

Eric Chan, Director,

Group
Eric Chan is the Director of Strategy and
Marketing for the Cisco Media Solutions Group (CMSG), which
develops and markets infrastructure software that bridges
the gap between media-content owners and consumers. He is
responsible for all products and marketing within this
organization. CMSG was incubated by Chan and SVP/GM, Dan
Scheinman, in December 2006, and currently has over 50
employees.
Prior to CMSG, Eric Chan led the Consumer
practice of Cisco's Corporate Business Development group,
which handles all strategy, acquisitions and venture
investments for the company. Chan also sat on various boards
for early stage technology and media companies.
Chan is a graduate of Harvard Business

Rick
Clancy, Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications,
Sony Electronics Rick Clancy is senior vice president
of corporate communications at Sony Electronics.
In this position, he is responsible for all of the
communications and public relations activities for the
company’s U.S. electronics business, including a wide variety
of corporate issues, new product launches, marketing support,
technology developments, third-party relationships,
manufacturing activities in the United States and Mexico,
crisis communications, media relations and employee
communications.
In the rapidly expanding world of social media, Clancy and
his team launched the company’s first corporate blog in July

Clancy joined Sony in 1990 as a director of corporate
communications, moving on to become a vice president in 1991.
He assumed the senior vice president position in 1997.

Lambert in New York. Prior to that, he served in various
client service and general management positions in the New
York and Pittsburgh offices of the Creamer Dickson Basford
public relations firm.
Clancy has also held public relations positions at the
investment firm of E.F. Hutton and at the J. Walter Thomson
advertising agency, where he began his career in 1976 after
receiving a B.A. degree, majoring in communications, from
Bethany College in West Virginia.
Clancy is a past chairman of the Consumer Electronics
Association’s Communications Committee and is an accredited

Jonathan Cobb, Founder,
Chief Technology Officer, Kiptronic, Inc.
A technologist and multimedia maven, Jonathan has been a
long-time creator of technologies that power online media. As
General Manager of KWUR 90.3 FM in St. Louis, he developed an
early Internet audio streaming system in 1996, realizing the
global power and reach of the Web.
In 2000, Jonathan founded and launched one of the first
geographically distributed real-time Internet radio stations,
which allowed users to broadcast their show on low-bandwidth
connections and interact with their audience.
He has held numerous senior engineering positions in a
number of Silicon Valley startups, most recently as Senior
Software Architect for Covalent Technologies, an
enterprise-class software and services company.
He has also played integral roles in starting and running
several start-ups including Hyperic Software, producers of HQ,
a popular IT management software system.

Jeffrey

Jeff McCrea is vice president and general manager of the
Consumer PC Platform Group. He is responsible for delivering
Intel's consumer PC products including definition, development
and marketing of Intel's desktop platform solutions.
McCrea has held several sales and marketing management
positions since joining Intel in 1991. From 2004 through 2006,
he served as co-president for Intel Americas Inc., where he
was responsible for all sales and marketing activities in
North America and South America. In 2003, he was responsible
for coordinating Intel's worldwide sales and marketing efforts
focused on re-energizing the sales of client PCs to businesses
and on aligning the industry behind driving client PC
replacements. From 1999-2002, he served as vice president and
director of desktop platform marketing, responsible for
worldwide product marketing and applications engineering for
the desktop products including CPUs, chipsets and software.

Andy Melder, SVP

Andy Melder joined Intellon as Senior Vice
President, Sales, Marketing and Business
Development in April 2004. With more than 25 years
of experience in the semiconductor industry, Andy
has a proven record of technology company growth.
Prior to joining Intellon, Andy was Chief
Operating Officer of Clarisay, Inc., a developer
of uniquely manufactured integrated SAW filter
modules for the cellular handset market.
Andy was also a founding member of Microtune, Inc., (NASDAQ:TUNE),
a developer of broadband, wireless RF and analog-intensive
integrated devices, targeting the automotive, home networking
and consumer electronics markets. During his tenure at
Microtune, Melder was Vice president of Sales & Marketing and
later, Vice President of Corporate Business Development. Part

competencies as well as corporate growth through the
identification of strategic merger and acquisition
opportunities. While at Microtune, the company expanded its
presence in the cable infrastructure and home markets, as well

Additionally, Andy has also served as Vice President,
Sales, Marketing & Corporate Business Development of Tripath
Technology, Inc., (NASDAQ:TRPH). He was also a management team
member, which led the company to its IPO in 2000. He was the
Director of Business Development of Cirrus Logic Inc.’s (NASDAQ:CRUS)
graphics business from 1995 to 1996, through an acquisition of
Pixel Semiconductor, where he was also Director of Business
Development.
Andy is a recognized expert in the communications, consumer

as a Senior Vice President of Sales.
Ron started his career in New York City as a sales trainee
for the IBM Corporation. In his 18 years with IBM he held a
number of sales and sales management positions including
Client Executive on NYNEX; Administrative Assistant to the IBM
General Manager of General and Public sector; Direct Marketing
Executive for Global Telecommunications and Media industries,
ultimately taking over the position as North American
Executive responsible for Wireless Service Providers, CLECs
and ISPs.

T. Schafer, Director, Product and Channel

Bill Schafer, a 22 year veteran in the home
automation AV marketplace has enjoyed a career
that has grown as much as the industry itself.
His experience in the home market began in the
Midwest in the mid 1980s. Bill worked his way
through all phases of home electronics with
roles that ranged from installation manager to
custom salesman, system designer to national
sales manager.
His current position as the Director of Product and Channel
Development of Crestron is the culmination of all the
expertise that he gained in the trenches and on the road. As
Regional Sales Manager in Crestron’s Midwest office in
Chicago, Bill contributed to the considerable growth in
Crestron Home sales from 1999 to 2002. He took on the
challenging role as National Sales Manager in 2003,
coordinating an entire new Crestron Home sales team structure.
Today, Bill's focus is on emerging new markets and products
within the Crestron organization. Solutions like lighting
control and MDU are experience tremendous growth under his
direction and leadership.
Bill is a first-class salesman of Crestron solutions who

market. He has been instrumental in spear-heading an intensive

Ray Sokola, Chief Technology Officer
and Corporate Vice President, Motorola, Inc.
Ray Sokola is chief technology officer (CTO)
for Motorola's Connected Home Solutions business. In this
position, Ray leads the Connected Home Solutions technology
team to drive profitable growth through visible technology
and innovation leadership, IP creation and timely
integration of new technologies that create new business
opportunities.
A 26-year Motorolan, Ray previously held the
position of corporate vice president and chief technology
officer of the Integrated Electronics Systems Sector of
Motorola.
Prior to that role, he was general manager
of Motorola's Telematics Group, which supplied the
in-vehicle equipment for OnStar and other security and
information services for drivers. In addition, he was
general manager of the ceramic filter business, and spent
his first 10 years at Motorola developing cellular mobile
and handset technology.
Ray holds a degree in electrical engineering
from the University of Delaware. A recipient of 16 patents,
he has been awarded three Motorola Patent of the Year Awards
and received Motorola's Distinguished Innovator Award. |

Singu Srinivas, President,
HiWired,
Inc. Singu co-founded HiWired following
twelve years of leadership experience in consumer electronics,
telecommunications and media, where he witnessed the pain and
frustration felt by personal technology users who lacked
convenient access to support. Prior to launching HiWired,
Singu was a relationship partner leading the Services Strategy
practice at IBM Business Consulting Services. While at IBM,
Singu advised electronics clients like Philips, Kodak, Cisco
and IBM. He also served as the director of strategy
development for IBM Global Services, Big Blue’s $48B services
arm. In addition, Singu’s background includes four years
working with start-up technology and content companies in
Europe.
A native New Yorker, Singu has adopted Boston as home,
where he spends much of his leisure time restoring his
family's 135-year-old, historic house. Singu is a 1996 MBA
graduate of the Wharton School at University of Pennsylvania.
He also holds an MS degree in Industrial Engineering from
Stanford University and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from

As Vice President and General Manager of
Communications, Media and Entertainment (CME),
Sebastiano Tevarotto is responsible worldwide for
managing HP's unparalleled range of technologies,
solutions and integration services for wireless
and wireline service providers, network equipment
providers, and content creators and distributors.
For several years HP has focused its activities on enabling
the transformation of a voice-centric industry into an
industry with a broader portfolio of “services”, managed
through the full lifecycle, and where the customer experience
is critical to sustainable competitive advantage. Taking
advantage of the new trend toward digitized content, HP has
added a specific focus on the remarkable opportunities that
this digitized content represents for two important
contributors – the telecommunications industry and the media &
entertainment industry.
Prior to his current role, Tevarotto was vice president and
general manager of the Network and Service Provider Business
Field Organization for HP where he led sales and delivery
activities for the service provider market. He previously
served as general manager of Enterprise Global Marketing for
HP and was involved in field marketing, alliance management
and global accounts program management. Additionally, he was a
member of the initial team that developed and began
implementation of HP's e-Services strategy. Prior to this role
he was enterprise marketing general manager for Europe, Middle
East and Africa.
Tevarotto was also general manager of HP's Enterprise
Organization in Southern Europe, covering Italy, Spain and
Portugal. Prior to regional management, he successfully ran
the Italy business unit, and served as area sales manager for
the Telecommunication Industry in Italy.
He started his career working at HP Santa Rosa, CA,
Microwave Technology Research Center. Tevarotto holds a degree
in Electronic Engineering from University of Padova, Italy. |

Tzruya fulfilled the position of VP Products &
Markets Strategy at Exent, responsible for
evaluating potential markets, defining product
strategy and roadmaps, and leading strategic
business development activities. Tzruya joined
Exent in 2003, coming from TeleKnowledge, a
billing & customer care software vendor. During
his tenure at TeleKnowledge, Tzruya held several
executive level positions in the areas of product
management, sales, marketing and business
development. Previously, Tzruya served 6 years
with the Israeli Air Force. Tzruya holds a B.S
Computer Science and Mathematics (cum laude) and a
M.S in Computer Science (cum laude) from Tel Aviv

Chris Wagner,
Executive Vice President and Co-Founder, NeuLion, Inc.
As an expert in the IPTV space, Chris Wagner has been a
driving force in the technology industry for over 20 years and
has a firm handle on future trends in media and technology. As
Executive Vice President and Co-Founder of NeuLion, he targets
the revolution currently underway as the television and
internet video industries converge.
Chris has held numerous executive positions in the
technology sector including Executive Vice President and
General Manager of Computer Associates. During his 16 year
career with CA, Chris was responsible for building the
company's Government, Partner Program and Global Consulting
Business.
He has also worked with several private equity and venture
capital firms as their Chief Executive Officer, which includes
Metiom, MetaMatrix, Exchange Applications and Digital Harbor.
Chris has been on the Board of Directors of all of these

Ben Weinberger, CEO,

Ben Weinberger co-founded
Digitalsmiths in 1998, and has grown the operation
from a two-person college business into a
market-leading technology company. Digitalsmiths
entered the entertainment industry in 2001 when it
introduced its proprietary technology platform,
Media Access Pro®, a ground-breaking software
platform allowing clients to search massive
amounts of film and television content in a simple
and methodical way. The technology underlying
Media Access Pro has enabled Digitalsmiths to
develop Videosense, an innovative system used to
create contextual advertising opportunities
related to broadband video. Videosense has
propelled Digitalsmiths to the cutting edge of

Steve Wildstrom,
Technology & You columnist, BusinessWeek
Steve Wildstrom created BusinessWeek's
Technology & You column in 1994. The goal of the column,
which appears weekly with regular supplements at
BusinessWeek Online (www.businessweek.com/technology/), is
to help readers understand and use personal technology to
enhance their jobs and their lives.
Before starting Technology & You, Steve
served as senior news editor in BusinessWeek's Washington
bureau and edited the Washington Outlook column. Since
joining the magazine in 1972, he has served in variety of
capacities, covering politics, economics, and labor in
Washington and Detroit and was also deeply involved in the
computerization of editorial operations in the 1980s.
Steve also has deep interests in education
and the arts. He is a founderboard member of the Children's
Chorus of Washington. He served as a member of local
arrangements committee and as the volunteer publicity
director for the International Math Olympiad 2001.
A native of Detroit, Steve is a graduate of
the University of Michigan. He lives with his wife Susan, a
mathematics teacher, in Kensington, Maryland. They have two
children, Jonathan, a software engineer in Austin, Tex., and
David, a graduate student at the University of California at
San Diego. |

Michael Wexler,
President, HiWired, Inc. Michael
co-founded HiWired in spring of 2004, after an eight-year
career in management and consulting for major consumer
electronics companies and start-ups. While working with
clients like Philips, Sharp, Panasonic and IBM, and as
technology advisor to the Wexler family, Michael identified a
need among consumers for brand-agnostic, personal digital
technology support. From these observations, his vision for
HiWired sprang.
Michael is an avid traveler and sailor. His accomplishments
include leading a group of college friends on a sailing
circumnavigation of the globe. Michael is a 1995 graduate of
Dartmouth College. |
