Nearly two-thirds of California broadband households have a connected CE device
California Technology Companies Will Address the Market at CONNECTIONS™: The Premier Connected Home Conference, San Francisco, May 13-15
New research from Parks Associates finds 65% of broadband households in California have at least one connected CE device, such as a smart TV, streaming media player, or Google Chromecast. The firm, which will host the 18th annual CONNECTIONS™: The Premier Connected Home Conference May 13-15 in San Francisco, said that 50% of California broadband households regularly use a computer to watch movies and TV programs, while 23% use a tablet and 18% use a smartphone to watch video content, all slightly higher than the national average.
“California technology companies are at the forefront of the connected home market, with leaders like Roku, TiVo, NETGEAR, Support.com, iControl Networks, and Sling Media creating powerful solutions to meet consumer demand,” said Stuart Sikes, President, Parks Associates. “We are excited to hear from these industry leaders at CONNECTIONS™ in San Francisco next week.”
The three-day conference features keynote addresses from AT&T, ARRIS, Ericsson, Cisco, and iControl Networks as well as interactive sessions involving more than 90 high-level executives, including 38 California-based industry leaders.
"This year's CONNECTIONS™ conference features thought leaders across the entire connected home industry with diverse backgrounds and opinions—with California-based companies being exceptionally well represented during every session. I expect all of the sessions to be original and thought-provoking," said Jeff Wilson, Director of Product Management, NETGEAR.
“The process of content discovery, delivery and consumption is not only shaping consumer behavior, but defining the true leaders in today’s consumer electronics marketplace. Brands and technology that see around the corner and create innovative ways to reduce the hurdles in the experience will attract consumers and materially alter the landscape. The CONNECTIONS™ conference is a tremendous platform to discuss the myriad of approaches and devices inside and outside of the home that deliver on consumer's expectations today and in the future,” said Jim Denney, Vice President, General Manager, Product Marketing, TiVo.
The conference will conclude with a special session featuring analysis and discussion with investors in the connected home space, "Future of the Connected Home: Investment Perspectives Roundtable," 1:30 p.m., May 15:
